This is post 9 of 10 in my Newborn Blog Series—a collection designed to help families feel confident and inspired as they prepare for their in-home session. Today I’m sharing a real family session to give you a peek into what a newborn session can truly feel like.
If you’ve ever wondered what a newborn session actually looks like, this one is a beautiful example. It took place in a bright, naturally lit modern townhouse in South Jordan, Utah. The baby was just a few weeks old, and the family included mom, dad, and their sweet big sister.
Natural Light + Everyday Beauty
We spent most of our time in the master bedroom and the living room, both filled with crisp, soft light. These spaces weren’t staged—they felt lived in, loved, and personal. That’s exactly what made them perfect.
Some of my favorite moments came from the quiet, tender time mom shared with her newborn on the bed. These turned out to be stunning portraits of motherhood—full of emotion and connection. One standout image shows the big sister holding her baby brother, framed by both parents. You can clearly see how deeply in love and in awe they are.

A Gentle, Flexible Flow
This session felt calm from start to finish. We took breaks when the baby needed to feed and made sure big sister had time to play between her moments of connection. It all flowed gently and naturally.
As a Salt Lake newborn photographer, I always encourage parents to let their home and their pace guide the session. When families feel comfortable, the results are always honest, heartfelt, and timeless.

What Stays With Me
What I’ll remember most from this session is the softness of it all. The gentle light, the calm energy, and the way each family member focused so tenderly on the newest addition. These moments matter—and I feel honored to document them.
If you’re thinking about booking a South Jordan newborn session, let this be your reminder that home is the perfect place. With relaxed pacing, beautiful natural light, and plenty of emotional connection, your session can feel just like this.
