• Style – Do you love light & airy, true-to-color, or warm & moody tones? Scroll through a few portfolios to see what matches your vision.
• Experience with kids – Sessions with little ones should feel fun and low-pressure. Look for someone who can go with the flow and connect with kids quickly.
• Location options – In-home, outdoor, or studio? Think about what backdrop tells your family’s story best.
• Personality – You’ll feel more relaxed with a photographer who feels like a friend. That comfort level shows in your images!

What to Expect During Your Family Photo Session

Family photography should feel natural—not stiff or overly posed. Here’s what a typical session with me looks like:

Before the Session

We’ll chat about what matters most to you right now—maybe it’s your morning snuggles, the way your toddler twirls your hair, or just documenting life in your home as it is. We’ll plan around your real, meaningful moments. My client questionnaire will help you pinpoint the most meaningful details.

During the Session

We keep things relaxed and playful. Your family will just do what you do best—laugh, love, and enjoy time together. I’ll guide you with gentle direction so nothing feels forced.

After the Session

You’ll receive your final gallery within 3 weeks. We’ll meet together for an ordering appointment, where you’ll choose your favorite images and fine art print products.

What to Wear for Family Photos

“What do we wear?!” This is the most-asked question I get! Here are my best tips:

• Start with mom. Pick something you feel amazing in. Then coordinate everyone else around that outfit.
• Choose 3–4 colors that complement each other instead of matching exactly.
• Skip logos and neon. They tend to distract from your beautiful faces.

Bonus tip: Start your littlest in PJs! It’s a sweet way to capture those everyday details like brushing hair or getting dressed—moments that feel ordinary now, but precious later.

How to Help Kids Enjoy the Photo Session

Worried your kids won’t cooperate? Don’t be. We’ll keep it fun and flexible.

• Set the tone. Let them know this isn’t “school picture day.” We’ll do their favorite activities and spotlight what makes them unique.
• Feed them first. A snack before the session goes a long way.
• Let them be kids. Running, jumping, even wrestling—it’s all welcome! That’s often when the best photos happen.

You’ll receive your final gallery within 3 weeks of the session. We’ll meet for your ordering appointment where you’ll:

How Much Does Family Photography Cost?

Family photography is a beautiful investment in your memories. My session fee is $200, and collections begin at $850, which include digital images and heirloom-quality print products.
