If you’ve ever wondered what happens after your in-home family photography session wraps up, this one’s for you. As an in-home family photographer in Salt Lake City, Utah, I pour just as much love into the editing process as I do into capturing your session.
Here’s a peek at what happens behind the scenes, and what you can expect from your final gallery.
My In-Home Family Photography Editing Style
I keep things true to life, with a clean white balance, natural skin tones, and a style that feels bright, crisp, and timeless.
I believe your home should look like your home. Your baby’s cheeks should still look like their baby cheeks. Your photos should feel like you, not like a filtered version of your life. My editing is subtle, intentional, and centered around preserving the emotion of each moment.
What I Do (and Don’t) Edit
Yes — I edit every image in your final gallery by hand. That means I adjust:
- Exposure and contrast
- Color balance and white tones
- Skin tones (without over-smoothing)
- Light distractions in the background (if they pull attention)
But I don’t:
- Retouch bodies
- Alter appearances
- Make people (or houses) look “perfect”
Because you already are enough, just as you are. And I want you to remember the way your toddler snuggled into your shoulder, not whether your shirt had a wrinkle.
From Shoot to Delivery
Once your session is complete, I start editing right away. Most galleries are delivered within two weeks, often sooner. You’ll receive your full gallery via a private online link, where you can download your images, order prints, and relive your session again (and again).
Why Editing Matters in In-Home Family Photography
The editing process is where the emotion comes to life. I don’t just batch-process and move on—I take time with your images, making sure each one feels like a memory. That’s what in-home family photography is all about for me — preserving real life, beautifully.
